 * the read more functionality disappears after refreshing the page (as seen in 
   the youtube-link).
   Any hints where the problem can be?

   is solved.
    - We are working with Elementor in WordPress.
    - In the Text-Editor Widget, where we used your plugin, is a setting
       * Texteditor-Widget > Advanced > Layout > **Cache Settings**
       * Although the default behavior **should** be “Inactive”. It was not.
       * After changing from “Default” to “**Inactive**” manually your plugin worked
         just fine.
