Hi, I enabled and installed reCaptcha when I set up wordfence.I noticed a little after that the reCaptcha page would show up when people would try to view the website, not just for people trying to login. I unenabled the reCaptcha option, but still no change. I even deleted reCaptcha for this particular site from google cloud console, but still getting complaints. (this happens periodically, even to me incognito )I would like to reset the wordfence plugin, and reinstall fresh. I have already selected “Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation”, and also “Delete Login Security tables and data on deactivation“. How do i reset safely? Do I need to select”Remove Extended Protection”?

    Thanks

Hi @pangloss08, thanks for getting in touch.

I strongly believe from your description this isn’t related to the reCAPTCHA presented by Wordfence as that would be reCAPTCHA v3 that doesn’t require anything to be solved or put a page in the way of your regular visitors. The CAPTCHA should only be checked on the WordPress or WooCommerce (if enabled) login/registration pages as those are the only pages our plugin is compatible with.

The CAPTCHA you describe sounds like the Cloudflare human verification or SiteGround Antibot screen as two examples I know of. You may need to consult your host for more details if you’re able to confirm this yourself or from users’ screenshots/descriptions after encountering the page.

To answer your specific question though, our instructions on removing/resetting the plugin are here: https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/remove-or-reset/

    Many thanks,
    Peter.
