 * Dear WPForms:
 * We, tsglma.org, use reCAPTCHA on a couple of our WPForms forms after rather blindly
   following your instructions for integrating it. We just got an email message
   from Google with the subject: [Action Advised] Migrate Google reCAPTCHA key to
   a Google Cloud Project by the end of 2025. It says, in part:
 * > We’re writing to inform you that all **Google reCAPTCHA** keys will need to
   > be migrated to a Google Cloud project by the **end of 2025**. This will unite
   > all reCAPTCHA customers under a single set of terms, a consistent pricing structure,
   > and provide access to advanced security features.
   > We’ve provided additional information below to guide you through this change.
   > What you need to do
   > We will apply the change in phases throughout the year, reaching out again
   > by email when your keys become eligible. At that time, we will automatically
   > create a Google Cloud project for you and associate your keys to it.
   > However, we recommend that you get ahead of this process by following [these instructions](https://notifications.google.com/g/p/ANiao5qTsfEdk7Mi3KQu6hT8Z5teuxb7lFZ920H6-MRXtCYeceJJoQ-5NngFWZyi4pGWwWLxNNWwI2ctaNWItQxe9ly7nJegUUXYmaFopcRg9qpLKiRE-RIydvm90B5flGYTTOX2q4XuTzY_-IfqcgoL2j_Rf7_IbEE)
   > to manually migrate from reCAPTCHA Classic. This way you will be able to prescribe
   > exactly which Google Cloud project you’ll associate with your key.
 * What guidance can you offer? Do we need to do anything, that is, are you going
   to hide significant parts of what seems like a painful experience for us if we
   have to strike out on our under an enhanced integration? It seems like we will
   easily be over our heads given that we don’t even know what a Google Cloud Project
   is, much less a Google Cloud billing account.

 * Hi [@arlingtoner](https://wordpress.org/support/users/arlingtoner/),
 * Thanks for reaching out about Google’s reCAPTCHA migration notice!
 * The change is coming from Google’s side, requiring all reCAPTCHA keys to be managed
   under a Google Cloud project by the end of 2025. According to Google’s documentation(
   [https://cloud.google.com/recaptcha/docs/migrate-recaptcha](https://cloud.google.com/recaptcha/docs/migrate-recaptcha)),
   the migration will mean:
    - You’ll need to manage reCAPTCHA through Google Cloud projects
    - There will be charges if you exceed 10,000 requests per month
 * With this, you have two options:
    1. Migrate your reCAPTCHA key to Google Cloud:
    2.  - Follow [Google’s migration process](https://cloud.google.com/recaptcha/docs/migrate-recaptcha)
          to update your current reCAPTCHA keys
        - Create new reCAPTCHA keys and update the keys in [WPForms » Settings » CAPTCHA](https://wpforms.com/docs/how-to-set-up-and-use-recaptcha-in-wpforms/)
    3. Switch to Alternative CAPTCHA solutions: If you’d rather avoid dealing with
       Google Cloud or potential costs, we have two excellent, free alternatives that
       are much simpler to set up:
    4.  - [hCaptcha](https://wpforms.com/docs/how-to-set-up-and-use-hcaptcha-in-wpforms/)
        - [Cloudflare Turnstile](https://wpforms.com/docs/setting-up-cloudflare-turnstile/)
 * Please let me know if you need any additional help with WPForms!
 * Thanks!

 * Hi [@arlingtoner](https://wordpress.org/support/users/arlingtoner/),
 * We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so I’m going to go ahead and close
   this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome
   to continue the conversation.
 * Thanks!
