recent max shortcode not working

I installed the latest version of nextgen. Everything works like it’s supposed to except a shortcode.

I want to show a gallery on a page with 8 recent photos uploaded from that gallery, with no pagination. I input this code:

[nggallery id=1 template=galleryview recent max=8]

It still shows 9 photos here: http://manicabana.com/lacquerlowdown/spy-princess-nail-lacquer/

Help would be appreciated.
