Recommendations for Download plugins?

For a while now I’ve been using Download Monitor plus the Page addon, the problem is that due to its custom post-type, no SEO plugins include the downloads or the content of the downloads page (using the extension) in the xml sitemap which unfortunately makes it essentially not appear in search engines (weirdly enough the page addon also comes with nofollow and noindex terms which I’ve removed.

Looking for alternatives show that in essence the few download plugins that exist are just like the base download monitor plugin, meaning they work by adding the download through a shortcode in a post. What I’m looking for is a traditional downloads section in order to build a downloads focused website.

I could simply do posts per download which works fine and is great for search engine possitioning but that would mean doing a presentable index quite a challenge.

Any suggestions?
