 * Here’s to wishing the developer would let us know what he intends to do.
    He
   is under no obligation to do anything, but it would be nice to hear a status
   like: 1. DEAD 2. Upgrade momentarily 3. Upgrade in 3 months
 * Cheers
    Jack

 * Hi Mimi,
 * It looks like John is still actively maintaining Redirection. Last update was
   in December 2010. I’ve checked with our team:
 * Redirection works just fine, it’s just the automated redirections don’t work.
 * Solution is simple. Use manual redirections and disable automated redirections.
   We successfully use Redirection on dozens of WordPress 3.1 sites.

 * Great Alec, now please just explain how to install it on a new 3.1 site.
    It
   doesn’t create the tables. Several people have reported this already.
 * December 2010 is pre-WP3.1. While it may not be justified and agent, it certainly
   is NOT cutting edge.
 * I recommend Quick Redirects. It may not be as fancy, but IT WORKS!
    That’s because
   it uses metadata.
 * Thanks for volunteering!

 * It has been working properly for me. I updated a site from WP 3.05 to WP 3.1
   and then installed the redirection plugin and everything worked properly with
   the several manual re-directions that I created.

 * scrollpost, the Dec 2010 version was fully tested on WP 3.1, as noted in the
   readme.txt file. It works fine in WP 3.1.1 for me.
 * I’m sorry you feel there is not sufficient information about my plans for it
   over the 3 month period since the last update.

 * Sorry but you are in denial.
 * Perhaps the plugin continues to work in an installation that has been upgraded,
   but as other here have also confirmed, it can NOT BE INSTALLED in WP3.1.
    I tried
   a clean WP install.
 * I am not prone to wasting developers’ time with spurious or bogus bug reports.
 * Anyway, I am using Quick Page/Post Redirect. Works like a charm. I suggest others
   considering what plugin to choose do the same.
 * Like I said, obviously no obligations. That goes both ways of course.

 * This plugin has worked like a charm for the couple of years – on several blogs–
   and on each version of WP that was current at the time. Currently it’s working
   fine under 3.1.1 – no issues.
 * This plugin tends to have a steep learning curve that can and does get folks
   new to the plugin into trouble. I have never used the URL Monitoring feature
   of the plugin.

 * From what I’ve seen and heard, the automatic redirections aspect no longer works.
   Like Robert says, we don’t use that part.
 * If anyone does have some serious issues with redirection, now would be the time
   to post them as you have John’s full attention.

 * scrollpost, the plugin is developed using a fresh installation of WP 3.1.1. This
   is not denial, but a fact. It may not work on your installation, but that is
   another issue and if you have some constructive feedback I would happy to look
   into it.

 * The above thread by others describes exactly what I experienced.
 * When I made my initial post, the other threads weren’t there. I haven’t read
   through them to see if there is a solution to the problem behind mysql hacking
   which is beyond my talents.
 * Here is another thread. Hmm it says you work for Automattic with two teas.
    Does
   that make you a super duper Englishman? How does the saying go about god country
   and Englishmen? You should work on your own personal SEO. I googled your name
   and you are nowhere to be found!
 * Seriously, like I said, I moved on. And I am very happy. The original links are
   listed in google and I am getting lots of hits from them. I even create the redirects
   programmatically with metadata. Part of the reason for the success is the great
   head2space plugin. You should take some pointers from that developer!

 * Hi John,
 * Scrollposts posts are certainly weird but there are some behavioural bugs in
   Redirection (some of which may be related to the automated functions that you
   and I pulled off the Foliovision websites four years ago due to potential circular
   redirections). After your departure, we programmed some cleaning mechanisms for
   redirections, but even then there were issues with automated redirection.
 * Maybe it’s time to pull the automated functionality out and simplify redirection.
   One issue we are running into is the database growing very large.
 * Best regards,
 * Alec

 * PS. Scrollpost, John is the author of Headspace2. Personally I have no use for
   Headspace2 but the author is one and the same genius who pulled off Redirection
   and Filled In.
