# Refund workflow

 * I’m having to do a lot of refunds at the moment, so I have been trying to optimise
   the workflow. What seems to work best is cancelling the order instead of going
   in and refunding it line by line. But I find that with this Stripe plugin, it’s
   a 2-step process:
   1. Cancel to refund with stripe 2. Change status to Refunded
   to send the customer email
 * But I did the same thing with your PayPal plugin, and I did Cancel > Update and
   after refunding, it changed the status to refunded, ie. a one-step process. Better.
 * Am I doing this right? If so can the Stripe plugin get a one-step refund like
   that?

 * There is a difference in how the PayPal plugin and Stripe plugin are coded which
   is why the order status shows as refunded when using the PayPal plugin.
 * The danger in making a change like that to the Stripe plugin is since it’s widely
   used it could catch merchants off guard if they don’t know about the change. 
   A change like that would require some feedback from the plugin users to ensure
   there are no issues.
 * That being said, I do agree the PayPal plugin process is a bit smoother so I’ve
   made a note to look into that change.
