 * I have WordPress hosting on register.com. I recently switched to WordPress from
   register.coms diy website builder. When I switched, I had an active ssl for my
   domain which is also purchased with register.com. Register.com assured me that
   I would not need to do anything and it will switch over when I connect my domain
   to WordPress. The ssl was also up to renew so we renewed it but it has never
   worked with WordPress. After the renew was validated I was no longer able to
   log into or view my site. It gave a too many redirect errors. Register.com has
   no solutions and told me I needed to delete my site and start fresh (I did not
   transfer anything from the diy website builder, I completely rebuilt the whole
   site on WordPress). So I deleted the website and I am getting the same errors.
   Too many redirects, not secure and an internal ssl error when I try to log into
   the staging site. Register.com now states the ssl needs to be reissued.
 * I tried forcing by changing the http to https for the website and site url. I
   also tried downloading real simple ssl but it says that it can’t find a certificate
   on the server. I am not familiar with how to access FTP.
 * It’s going on two months of going in circles with register.com.
 * Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fregister-com-ssl-issues%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * The SSL certificate needs to be installed on the server and configured for your
   domain name before WordPress can use the HTTPS address.
 * Please contact Register.com, your hosting provider and SSL vendor, and ask them
   to install/re-install the SSL certificate you purchased for you. They are the
   only ones who can help with a certificate they sold to you.
 * > Register.com now states the ssl needs to be reissued.
 * Re-issuing a certificate should not mean re-purchasing.
 * If you have a copy of the certificate files, you should be able to install it
   yourself in your hosting Register.com control panel. If you don’t have a copy
   of the certificate files, that’s when the re-issuance comes in. But, again, re-
   issuing a certificate should not mean paying for it a second time.

 * If the certificate you purchased is not installed on the server, there’s no way
   around it, other than getting the certificate installed. And only your hosting
   provider — who is also the vendor you purchased the certificate from — can help
   you with this.
 * That said, you should be able to use the e**Really Simple SSL** plugin to install
   a **free Lets Encrypt certificate** and be done with this…. unless your host
   is going out of their way to block the installation of free certificates just
   so they can sell their own (this actually happens!).
 * You may use this site to test your SSL setup: [https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/](https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/)
 * Kindly note that the above site only tests the setup of the **certificate itself**,
   and not the website. So an error indicates there’s a problem with the setup of
   the certificate… and not your website or WordPress.
 * Good luck!

 * Please see Register.com’s documentation: [How Do I Reissue an SSL Certificate?](https://customerservice.register.com/prweb/PRAuth/webkm/help/article/KC-12/Register.com)

 * Thank you! I got the ssl reissued but still having issues. The dashboard is not
   showing up correctly and even with deleting the shot, all plugins turned off
   and the generic theme, the website is still getting redirect issues.

 * I can confirm that your site has a new SSL certificate issued on 26th and has
   already been installed.
 * That’s two required steps out of the way.
 * Now you need to configure your WordPress site to use `HTTPS`, instead of `HTTP`.
 * If you have access to your site’s dashboard, head over to **SETTINGS => GENERAL**.
 * Look for the two fields labeled **_WordPress Address (URL)_** and **_Site Address(
   URL)_**. Both of them should contain your site address:
 * `http://mslia.org`
 * Change this to read like this (in both places):
 * `https://mslia.org`
 * Scroll down the page, and hit **SAVE CHANGES**.
 * **PLEASE NOTE:** The only change you’re making is adding an `s` after the `p`,
   changing it from `http` to `https`. Be careful to not make any mistakes here,
   otherwise your site will break completely, and we’ll have to resort to a more
   technical approach to fix it.
 * Standing by for feedback.

 * I added the s after the p, I tripled checked to make sure that was all.
 * I got kicked out of the launch pad and when I try to log into it, It says the
   page isn’t redirecting properly. An error occurred during a connection to MSLIA.
