# Reinstalling WordPress

 * I had a friend upload WP to the 1and1 server. Later I uploaded some themes but
   everytime I try and use them I always get the following on a browser page (this
   is an example of when i tried to use the Vigilance theme): Fatal error: Call 
   to undefined function: get_header() in /homepages/27/d257472513/htdocs/studu/
   wp-content/themes/vigilance/index.php on line 1
 * do i have to do a reinstall of wp? what do you suggest? if it’s a reinstall, 
   what notes can you give me so it will work and there won’t be any further complications?
   thanks in advance. i’m new to wp and i appreciate your help.

 * Don’t reinstall. That is a theme problem. To be sure switch to the default theme.
   If it works, either you didn’t get all of the theme files from vigilance uploaded
   or it’s not compatible somehow. Or you messed with one of the theme files and
   screwed it up.

 * I switched to the default theme and it’s not working. it was working before i
   installed other themes, and before the tech person from 1and1 tried to solve 
   the problem. Any suggestions?

 * Perhaps you can replace the themes folder with a fresh one from the current download
   package?

 * i replaced the themes folder like you said and it didn’t work. is the next step
   to reinstall wordpress or should i try something else right now? thanks.

 * Yeah, you should get a decent host. Every second 1&1 user ends up here complaining
   about unsolvable issues…

 * I have just changed the server, i took the backup of database and have all folders.
   The WP is 2.2.3
    I am getting and fatal error all the time! Should I reinstall
   the world press on new server – is 1&1 (sorry to hear that they are not good.)
 * Please advice.
