 * As far as I can see, the textarea in settings for dbem_event_list_item_format_header,
   though blank is putting in `<p></p>` tags right before and after the events list.
 * I’d rather not edit core files for the plugin but I could. Or if there is a hook
   for this I’d be pumped.
 * It would make sense that if the before and after textareas have nothing in them
   then they shouldn’t be placing any code into rendered wp pages.
 * This is under events manager -> settings -> events format -> Default event list
   format header and Default event list format footer

 * Oooops. got the wordpress version wrong, I put in the plugin version. The wp 
   version I’m on is 3.1

 * i believe that’s caused by the tinymce editor, or the the_content filter which
   is passed through the description placeholders before they’re shown
