Remove default quote block on new quote posts

Hi there,

Is there a way to remove the default quote block that appears when the new post format is set to Quote?

I use a theme that formats the quotes using meta fields and its own css. The trouble is when I set WordPress to use the quote post format as the default for all new posts, it automatically inserts a quote block in the Gutenberg block editor which I have to remove each time.
