In Theme Options > Typography make sure you have a standard font picked for every font tag. Then google fonts should not load.

You shouldn’t and the theme won’t as long as you have not selected that font somewhere in your theme options.
Go to appearance > theme options > main settings.
Make sure “Sitename Logo Font” and “Site Tagline Font” are not set to lato.
Next go to appearance > theme options > shop settings.
Make sure “Shop & archive Product title Font” is not set to lato.
Next go to appearance > theme options > typography settings.
Make sure “H1 Headings”, “H2 Headings”, “H3 Headings”, “H3 Headings”, “H5 Headings”, and body font are not set to lato.
Finally, Go to appearance > theme options > menu settings.
Make sure “Primary Menu Font”, “Secondary Menu Font” and “Mobile Menu Font” are not set to lato.
Once lato is not selected anywhere in your theme options then it will not load on your site.
