# Remove sidebar from posts

 * Hi,
 * I’m trying to remove the sidebar from all of my posts (example: [http://briavelscourt.co.uk/?p=257](http://briavelscourt.co.uk/?p=257))
 * I have removed the sidebar tag from my index.php and page.php but the sidebar
   keeps showing. I don’t even have those widgets selected to display on that page,
   so i have no idea why they’re even being pulled through.

 * the template responsible for single posts is **single.php** [http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy](http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy)–
   if that template is not yet in your child theme’s folder, make a copy of it from
   the parent theme and add it into the child theme.
 * then try to edit that single.php template and remove the sidebar code.
