removing double home page problem

Greetings,

I created a static home page for my site and it left two Home links in the navigation bar. I have searcher around a bit to see what solutions are out there. I was wondering if there are definitive fixes for the blackbird theme.

Right now I am hiding the second home link as a child so its not on the main nav. bar, but it shows up in the dropdown.

I’ve also seen a bunch of threads on removing code from the header but I didn’t want to mess with general instructions not for this specific theme.
