 * Hello!
 * Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I think I have narrowed down my
   website speed issues to the database. I have switched themes and tried and deleted
   several plugins over the past 3 years. I think the database has empty tables
   that are causing the website to run slow.
 * Early January I switched the theme out (currently Ocean) and switched it back.
   Since then the site has been loading slower. I also noticed that some of the
   photos in the media library are broken even though they display on webpages.
 * If I select the repair WordPress option will it miraculously fix everything that
   is broken? I am hosted by network solutions and they run nightly backups. If
   the repair breaks the site could I restore to last night’s back up? I called
   Network Solutions and to get any wordpress help you have to sign up for their
   my time support. Thank you so much for all of your help and feedback!!

 * I don’t want to step on Network Solutions toes, however not the best company
   to host WordPress specifically. Your website and database might be slow because
   of the resources and configuration of the server they are using for shared hosting
   that you are on.
 * That said, one way you can try and fix your database is through the use of PHPMyAdmin.
   You can also use the WordPress fix option by adding define(‘WP_ALLOW_REPAIR’,
   true); into wp-content.php and visiting the urls.
 * If backups areade each night, I would probably firstly request the backup, then
   check and compare the files a little between what’s on your love website and
   what’s in the backup zip file, if they provide you with zip file of your backup.
   Otherwise, it’s all in their hands. Best solution would be to sign up with VaultPress
   for the month, do a backup, do word it, then proceed with the fixes and try fixes.

 * Hi Artur!
 * Thank you so much for this information! With the define(‘WP_ALLOW_REPAIR’, true)
   do I run the risk of loosing data?
 * I think a “deleted” plugin corrupted the database ( also hindering performance
   speed) and it no longer displays in the database but does display in the Admin
   Panel and a folder For it exists in the FTP File. Trying to delete it via FTP
   crashes the website while trying to deactivate from the Admin Panel causes me
   to loose pages. I created a seperate forum question: [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/deleted-plugins-still-display-in-wordpress-admin-panel-and-ftp-files?replies=1](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/deleted-plugins-still-display-in-wordpress-admin-panel-and-ftp-files?replies=1)
 * Thank you again for this information! I really appreciate it! Cheers!

 * May I ask which Plugin is it in question that crashes your website?

 * Hi Artur,
 * I have narrowed it down to Updraft Plus, CP Multi Calendar View, and Super Cache.
   When I look in the FTP files, the permissions and ownership are overlapping.
   Instead of seeing a space between them they look like they are laid on top of
   each other. I thought about resetting file permissions, but I am nervous that
   would break the site because these are “deleted” files.
    Trying to delete them
   from the Plugin folder breaks the website and deactivating them from the Admin
   Panel gives me the white screen of death.:(
 * Thank you so much for your time, help, and insight!!!! I am very appreciative
   of it!

 * Hi there,
 * Sorry for the late reply. Try using your FTP and if I’m correct, under the directory/
   wp-content/ you will see a directory something like cache .. so /wp-content/cache
   or similar.
 * Download everything, the entire cache directory to your computer, for safe keep.
   Then delete it from your FTP site. Then try to delete Super Cache. Sometimes,
   a cache plugin, gives white screens or makes things go nuts, because cache is
   still trying to load but the plugin that created it is gone.
 * I’m 99% positive Super cache might be causing few issues here. All I can say
   is without access on my end, you have to do a try and error, report back here
   with your findings and if the above worked or not. 🙂
 * Let me know.
 * Thank you! Cheers.

 * Hi Artur!!!
 * Sorry for the delay!! I was not able to try the fix yet due to high traffic on
   the website for an upcoming event. I will try it as soon as it is over! I am
   pretty sure it is supercache related too. I am just a little apprehensive to
   change anything under the curtains while the event is being promoted in case
   it breaks the site! I will let you know ASAP!!! I greatly appreciate your time,
   help, and responses!!!!!
