# Replace current site with WordPress – steps?

 * I currently have a site [http://www.mysite.com](http://www.mysite.com) and I 
   made a wordpress site in another folder and built it up. I want to replace the
   current site with the wordpress site.
 * I figure just move the files over into the public html area and take out the 
   existing index file.
 * I assume I need to make another data base for the site to work in the root area
   of my site? This is where I’m unsure and I want to do it right the first time.
 * I also think I need to change the permalinks in the wordpress general settings.
 * Can anybody guide me a little here, I don’t want to mess this up! Thanks!!!

 * Hey! First of all, make a backup for existed website and nother backup for WordPress
   website (files + database dump, via phpMyAdmin for example).

 * It’s very simple, just don’t forget to backup all your files and database.
