# Replace Google Tag Manager with Universal Code?

 * My clients keep receiving recommendations from their hosts to deactivate MonsterInsights
   because it uses Google Tag Manager, “which causes lots of unnecessary JavaScript
   execution time.” The recommendation is to replace it with Google Analytics’ Universal
   Code, “which is much lighter.”
 * Do you have plans to allow for a choice between the two, as people continue to
   try to optimize their sites for Core Web Vitals?
 * Thank you!

 * How were you even able to connect Monsterinsights with Google Analytics? It doesn’t
   show in my list. I’m assuming it’s because there is no UA.

 * Hi there,
    MonsterInsights supports both GAv3 and GAv4 (with Universal Compatibility
   enabled). We’re going to be adding support for GAv4 properties without the Universal
   Compatibility option checked soon as Google releases their final APIs for it
   for us to use.
 * We don’t have any immediate plans to offer a analytics.js option. Gtag.js offers
   a number of improvements over analytics.js including exclusive features that
   we use in MonsterInsights. That being said, we’re working with Google on a number
   of Site Web Vitals initiatives (including them working on that particular issue)
   including gtag.js deferral loading and locally hosted versions and others that
   are coming in the next release of our plugin, and more in future releases. Lots
   to come on this front!
