# Replace string error

 * My search and replace didn’t seem to quite function correctly and seemed to disregard
   my trailing slash.
 * E.g the below…
 * Search for [https://myoldsite.com/wp/](https://myoldsite.com/wp/) [my old site
   was in the “wp” directory]
    Replace with [https://mynewsite.com/](https://mynewsite.com/)[
   new site is not in “wp” directory]
 * …meant that a lot of images broke because the source looked like the following:
 * [https://mynewsite.com/-content/2018/08/myimage.jpg](https://mynewsite.com/-content/2018/08/myimage.jpg)

 * Try not to use find/replace and let the plugin do the automated replacement for
   you.

 * Thanks, I have just tried while leaving the find and replace blank, and actually
   the issue is exactly the same – so it’s actually the automated replacement causing
   the issue and the search/replace was being ignored.

 * Could you take screenshots of your old site settings page and the new site settings
   page?
    I need to see what values you have exactly for Site url and Home url
