Hello, my website defaulted a year ago and was taken offline. I backed it up using UpdraftPlus and am now trying to restore it using ‘rescan remote storage’. The problem is that when I click the rescan remote storage tab, instead of beginning the process of restoring my website I receive this message:

‘If you have an existing backup that you wish to upload and restore from, then please use the “Upload backup files” link above. Or, if they are in remote storage, you can connect that remote storage (in the “Settings” tab), save your settings, and use the “Rescan remote storage” link’.

I have existing back up files created by UpdraftPlus uploaded to my host, but apparently something is wrong. I would like to know how to proceed.Thankyou.

    Hi there,

Clicking rescan remote storage is not the way to restore a website, see the restore guide here:

If you have any difficulties or further questions please message me back for more assistance.

    Best regards,

Hi Nick! The reason I am using rescan remote storage is because UpdraftPlus has not saved my backup files. It says that there are no existing backup files, so I think this is my only option (rescan remote storage). If you have any further ideas I would be extremely grateful. Thanks

    Hi there!

Thanks for the additional info. It’s important for us to identify where backups were saved.
You mention no remote backup files when scanning, have you also checked the storage?

I’m suggesting this in the case the backups exist and the rescan is simply not finding them.
It’s possible you may have backups stored locally if they weren’t sent to the remote storage.

Could you try the ‘Rescan local folder…’ link next to ‘Rescan remote’ to check for backups?
If you have a backup log file it may give clues, can you share it using PasteBin or similar?

    Best regards,

    Nick

    Hi there,

I’m happy to go with good teamwork :o)

There are constraints with providing support here, we’re not allowed to look at your site.
Which means we have to guide folks because we’re not able to be more ‘hands on’ here.

So many resolutions depend on cooperation, and it’s important to give credit where due.
When you consider the fundamentals, it’s clear I couldn’t help without your contribution.

So thank you, and enjoy the holidays!

    Best regards,

    Nick
