 * Hi,
    I built a site on a development folder of a domain whilst the current site
   was live. The new site was at [http://www.wattishamchoir.co.uk/dev](http://www.wattishamchoir.co.uk/dev).
   We were then ready to go live, so I followed the instructions here to put the
   site live on the root domain: [http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress)(
   Moving Directories on your Existing Server). Once on the root, the website didn’t
   look as though it was referencing all the css correctly, although the source
   code indicated that it was. So I put an index.html holding page over the root
   to hide the mess. I couldn’t get to the bottom of the issue, so I tried to restore
   the dev folder and database last night (whilst leaving the root files in place,
   but overwriting the database). Now I have a curious problem. Accessing the dev
   version of the site no longer works and brings up an error. You can view this
   here: [http://www.wattishamchoir.co.uk/dev/about-us/](http://www.wattishamchoir.co.uk/dev/about-us/).
   But viewing the root version looks as it should: [http://www.wattishamchoir.co.uk/about-us/](http://www.wattishamchoir.co.uk/about-us/).
   However, the navigation etc references the dev links.
 * So I feel relieved that I haven’t lost everything. My biggest problem though
   is that I’m unable to log into the WordPress admin for either the dev or the
   root.
 * Can anyone offer any suggestions? I’m so out of my depth, and don’t know how
   to resolve this.
 * Many thanks for any help!
 * Vicky

 * Did you make any backups before you moved your site and restored your database?
 * If not make one first:
    [http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups](http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups)
 * Try setting the urls to to the correct directories with one of these methods:

 * Hi
 * Yes, I made back ups. I have back ups of the database and files before I changed
   them from the dev/ folder, and I have them since I changed them too.
 * The problem that I have is that the site is in limbo between the dev folder and
   the root, so these instructions aren’t able to help me. I’m not sure how I can
   log back into the WP admin area of the site. If I change the urls manually in
   the database to remove the /dev/ extension in the restored dev database, it breaks
   the entire site again.
 * Thanks for taking a look at this!
 * Many thanks

 * OK, it appears that not all the theme files had carried across. I’ve reuploaded
   the theme folder, and now the issue has resolved itself.
