Resource use

I really like adrotate. I was wondering if there is any tips to ‘slim’ the resources the pluging uses/adds to a site. With adrotate activated it dramatically increases the load time and weight of our site (the images for the ads are all under 80kb and not that many of them). I tried an alternative ‘ad’ manager and the load time and weight was a lot less but it had to many bugs to keep using. Any advice would be welcome.
