 * Hello
 * We have WP multisite and as far as we are aware we created it so that it should
   create sub-folders rather than sub-domains. i.e. We have define( ‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’,
   false ); in our wp-config.php file.
 * We have now created 3 sites with each having its own domain:
 * [https://fantastic-training.com/](https://fantastic-training.com/)
    [https://fantastic-thinking.com/](https://fantastic-thinking.com/)
   [https://perceptionprofiling.com/](https://perceptionprofiling.com/)
 * However we don’t appear to have different folders for these sites.
 * Under the root folder there is a folder we are using for one of the sites and
   that folder is called /Aj-Isle/ this should be for the [https://fantastic-training.com/](https://fantastic-training.com/)
   site.
 * However the folder is available to all 3 domains which is behaviour we don’t
   want. So trying to look at the file south.png in all 3 domains works.
 * [https://fantastic-training.com/Aj-Isle/south.png](https://fantastic-training.com/Aj-Isle/south.png)

   [https://fantastic-thinking.com/Aj-Isle/south.png](https://fantastic-thinking.com/Aj-Isle/south.png)
   [https://perceptionprofiling.com/Aj-Isle/south.png](https://perceptionprofiling.com/Aj-Isle/south.png)
 * How can we restrict it so that the Aj-Isle folder is only available when the
   [https://fantastic-training.com/](https://fantastic-training.com/) domain is
   requested?
 * Thanks in advance
    Steve H-B

 * That’s a bit of confusion most people get caught up in when building a multisite…
 * A subdirectory install of multisite doesn’t go in a subdirectory and doesn’t
   build subdirectories for those added sites. It’s more of a site naming convention
   where new sites are named under the root domain in a subdirectory multisite while
   a subdomain multisite creates new site as subdomains of the original site.
 * The subdirectory install is still easier in some respects so you have a good
   install there… It’s just not exactly what you expected.
 * Domain mapping tends to blur some of the distinctions between subdirectory and
   subdomain installs so that can help but, if you really need subdirectories for
   some specific sites then see if your control supports addon domains to use for
   those.
 * I’d keep the multisite for the rest of the sites.

 * Oh, to answer your image question…
 * You can upload images and such to the individual media section of each subsite
   to lock those to the respective subsites. There is a specific directory under
   the media directory for each site. You only see that in that site’s dashboard.

 * Hey [@jnashhawkins](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jnashhawkins/)
 * Thanks for the feedback… very useful.
 * We have some other files in the Aj-Isle folder that are specific to the fantastic-
   training.com domain – Strictly speaking these aren’t WordPress assets but they
   will be used in conjunction with the wordpress site.
 * Any ideas on how we stop the other WordPress sites from accessing this folder?
 * Thanks.
