# Rewrite Rule Bug

 * I have installed WP 1.3-nightly-0509 and am migrating my blog to the new host.
   My permalink structure is
    ` /%category%/%year%/%month%/%postname%/  Some of 
   the rewrite rules generated contain (.+?), which produces an 500 Server Error.
   The for the exact form of the generated rules and my (possibly suboptimal) changes
   see [the blog entry](http://serendipity.lascribe.net/changelog/2004/09/rewrite-problems/)

 * Older versions of apache have a number of regular expression quirks. Coding around
   them can be a pain.

 * Apache 1.3 has some mod_rewrite bugs that Apache 2 does not have. I’ll have to
   workaround this one.

 * Same here…. caused me some pain. haha
    it’ll be nice if i can just upgrade apache
   liddat… but life and webhosts just doesn’t work that way

 * I wrote a plugin that allows me to use %category%/%postname% permalinks in Apache
   1.3 without any trouble whatsoever.
