 * Are there any information of how long a certain version of WordPress will get
   security updates?
 * I see that 3.6 was stopped receiving updates 2013-Sep-1, but all following versions
   gets the latest updates. Was it a mayor codebase restructuring between 3.6 and
   3.7?
 * _(I have a client that’s stuck with WP 3.7. Their old custom theme will crash
   when updating to 3.8.)_

 * There is no roadmap for updating earlier versions. Yes, security updates may
   occur but you cannot depend on that. I believe the earlier versions (3.7+) were
   updated because of the fact that those updates were compatible with the patch.
   But you really can’t plan on that and some vulnerabilities are not back ported.
 * The security roadmap really is “Please ensure that you are running the latest
   version of WordPress.”

 * Going from 3.7 to 4.2.2 shouldn’t be a problem if you can identify _why_ their
   custom theme is crashing. What are the errors? You can always replicate their
   site on a test install and then see where the problem is. 😉

 * Thanks for the info!
 * No if course the best scenario would be to fix the bugs and update to the latest
   version. I’ll do my best to advice them to do that 🙂
