 * Hi there,
 * Apologies if this has been asked before, I can’t seem to find a topic regarding
   my situation.
 * I updated to the latest wordpress today. As it happens no one had updated the
   plugins or the version of wordpress for quite a while and we had a company create
   our theme for us. Before I updated wordpress I backed everything up on Updraft
   and have a remote copy, I also took a backup of the home directory on cPanel.
   When I updated wordpress it appeared the theme was out so I updated the theme
   and refreshed the page. The theme disappeared, so I restored the theme and its
   obviously incompatible. Is it possible to rollback to an earlier version of wordpress?
   I have watched a video on YouTube but would hate to do any irreparable damage
   to the website, wondering if there was an easier way..
 * Also how am I able to update our custom theme if it disappears? I assume this
   is something i’ll have to go to our web designer for..
 * Thanks for reading 🙂
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Frolling-back-wordpress%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)
   to see the link]_

 * Since you did a complete backup with Updraft, you can easily RESTORE everything
   from the remote Updraft copy… using Updraft itself.
 * Have you tried this and encountered any problem?

 * I’m not exactly clear on what you mean by the theme disappearing, but … yes…
   for a custom theme, you’d need to contact the vendor for any issues, including
   possibly getting a fresh copy if you lost your copy.

 * Hi George,
 * Thanks for your help, Yes I did try a complete restore, I am under the impression
   though that the theme we have is incompatible with the current version of WordPress.
   I think I need to know how to install an older version of WordPress

 * Hi Savisa,
 * If you did a complete backup (database and files) with Updraft BEFORE you performed
   any upgrades, then the Updraft RESTORE should roll back the site back to the
   old working site… exactly as it was BEFORE you took the Updraft backup (with
   the old version of WordPress, old theme, and old all media files).
