# RSS Feed sorting

 * What controls the sorting of the RSS feed itself?
    The _player _shortcode allows
   for sorting of the playlist asc or desc, by ‘Recorded Date’ or ‘Published Date’…
   and that is working. However, when the RSS feed is loaded into a reader, or VLC
   player, the episodes are not sorted correctly.

 * RSS feeds are normally sorted reverse chronologically (most recent episode first,
   oldest episode last) by _published date_. You also have the option in SSP to 
   sort the RSS feed by _recorded date_ in **Podcast → Settings → Feed Details →
   Source for publish date**.
 * The player shortcode attributes to sort episodes are done on the front-end for
   the player. These options don’t affect the usual reverse chronological ordering
   you’re used to seeing in other podcast players.

 * The setting is ‘Recorded Date’ and the RSS feed is NOT sorted according to the
   recorded date. Any suggestions how to correct?
