# RSS feed working?

 * Some of my friends on Live Journal tried to add my RSS feed and get this error
   message:
    “Error The URL you have typed is invalid. Please make sure you have
   typed the URL correctly and try again.”
 * My WP site:
    [http://www.karensblog.com](http://www.karensblog.com)
 * (The above is a subdomain of my site so people can find it easily … FWIW the ‘
   real’ address is
    [http://www.karenwinters.com/kblog](http://www.karenwinters.com/kblog))
 * It was time for me to upgrade so I upgraded to WP 1.5.2 tonight with no problems.
 * Everything seems to be OK as far as the blog goes, but I still don’t know if 
   my RSS is working for anyone … and it seems that Live Journal still can’t add
   my feed through their syndication page.
 * Please help a WP newcomer … thanks in advance for any assistance.

 * Looks like you have some bad characters in your post just before “This is a continuation
   of this week’s on” You might see a couple of squares there.

 * Hmm, I don’t see that when I look at the page source. I wonder where it’s coming
   from. Does the RSS feed work, though? What browser are you using?

 * Perhaps you are using IE the dinosaur, but you will aee it in FF or the source
   of both. The RSS feed won’t work for many until you remove them.

 * Beel, thanks for your help. I was not able to remove (or even see) the blocks
   in Safari, but I could see and edit them out in Firefox.

 * Thanks for the confirmation, I really appreciate it.
    My original problem, however,
   still remains. People on Live Journal can’t take a feed from me when I add this
   address: feed://karenwinters.com/kblog/feed/atom/
 * to this syndication page:
    [http://www.livejournal.com/syn/](http://www.livejournal.com/syn/)
 * Any idea on what I can do to make it work?
    Do I add something to the style sheet?
   I don’t want to make a mess and make the feed not work for other users …

   it still didn’t work.
 * I still get the same message:

    and karenwinters.com/kblog/feed/
 * Nothing is working.
 * However I notice that this WP user has a feed that DOES work for LJ users …

 * Edit: wrote this awhile ago, forgot to press “send post” and then got distracted.
   I see you may have tried this. I don’t know anything about LJ, but don’t they
   accept RSS 2.0?

 * It seems that the URL they want is the feed address, but it has to start with
   http:// not feed:// which is the way it displays in the browser when you click
   the RSS button.
 * (it would be nice if they had put that in the instructions rather than making
   us do trial and error)
 * I finally entered it this way
    [http://karenwinters.com/kblog/feed](http://karenwinters.com/kblog/feed)
   and it automatically created a syndicated “free” account.
 * I did a test this morning and it appears that the feed is working for LJ members
   
   I’m documenting this here in case any other users have the same trouble I had,
   and want to know what finally did the trick.
