# RSS not validating

 * I’ve read a couple of therads that are on the same topic, but none has really
   answered the questions. I run a localized (sv_SE) version of 1.5 with no hacks
   intstalled and haven’t touched the RSS-files or anything else för that matter.
   I “don’t” use permalinks, and my php date us set to “D d M Y” and time is set
   to “H:i”.

   there is an error generetade in the pubDate, and teh validator says that “pubDate
   must be an RFC-822 date”. My question to you guys are the following:
 * 1. Could somebody translate that into plain English?
 * 2. Do I get thos error due to my localization (used latest mo/po from the codex)?
   If so, which parts of the localization generate the error?
 * 3. Most important: How do I actually SOLVE this problem the easiest way? (Without
   the blog itself english) I don’t care how the rss look like as long as they’re
   valid.
 * 4. Must the settings in the wordpress setup have a specific php date() format?
   In other words, must i keep the original ones? Or are mine okey? “D d M Y”
 * I know this is much, but it would really help me out since I’m clueless here.

 * RFC 822 ([http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc822/#z28](http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc822/#z28))
   is a standard for email messages, part of it states how dates should be formatted.
 * In the link you supplied the (short) weekday is in Swedish instead of English.
   This part should _not_ be translated in the RSS feeds by localization, but I 
   can not tell you what went wrong. Could be a bug. Should not have anything to
   do with your choice of `PHP date()` format.
 * Have you made any changes to the files in order to get the weekdays in Swedish,
   or have you just installed the localization?

 * I only localized it using *.po / *.mo and poEdit to handle the files. Downloaded
   the latest swedish versions from the wordpress codex.
 * I’ve now translated back the abbreviated days into English [ they were already
   translated to Swedish in the file that I got from the codex.

 * Now I’m still using the Swedish *.mo, but with my partial re-translation of tha
   days, and the feed now validates with [http://rss.scripting.com/](http://rss.scripting.com/)

 * What values/fields _must not_ be translated in the *po/mo in order for everything
   to work smoothly? Are these the only ones? Url somebody? In the codex they translate

 * my rss does not validate either and this is the error message i got. i don’t 
   know what it means since i’m really not a techie. could somebody please help 
   me with this?
