 * Hi,
 * My WordFence version is 7.4.0. The last rules update for the Wordfence Firewall
   was unsuccessful, and when I tried to manually update them, I couldn’t. Then
   I checked some of the previous topics and in one of them was written:
    – that
   I should delete the rules.php file in wp-content/wflogs – I did it and it didn’t
   work. – then, I also asked Bluehost to check if they’re not blocking something
   on their end (some ports that were mentioned in one of the comments in the other
   topic) and they told me that everything looks fine on their side.
 * Now, I cannot even download the rules. When I try to do it, it tells me to check
   the connection of the website with WordFence, which I know I have because I can
   see my website domain in my WordFence account.
 * Please help!

 * Hey [@katrintroeva](https://wordpress.org/support/users/katrintroeva/),
 * Can you send me a Diagnostics report so I can get a better overview of your environment?
   Please navigate to **Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics**. Here you can select `
   SEND REPORT BY EMAIL`. Please include your WordPress.org username and update
   this thread after you’ve sent it.
 * Thanks,

 * Hey [@katrintroeva](https://wordpress.org/support/users/katrintroeva/),
 * I spoke with the developer and he mentioned there were some issues yesterday.
   Can you please try a manual scan once more and let me know how it goes?
 * Thanks,
 * Gerroald

 * Hi [@wfgerald](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wfgerald/),
 * When I try I receive this message:
 * “No rules were updated. Your website has reached the maximum number of rule update
   requests. Please try again later.”
 * How long should I wait for to I try again?
 * Thanks,
    Katrin

 * Hey [@katrintroeva](https://wordpress.org/support/users/katrintroeva/),
 * Can you try removing the `/wp-content/wflogs` file and let it regenerate itself,
   it usually takes less than 30 minutes. Then try the scan once again and let me
   know how it goes? If it fails again, please send me another Diagnostic report.
 * Thanks,

 * Hey [@wfgerald](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wfgerald/) ,
 * Do you mean the entire folder /wp-content/wflogs or only the file rules.php in
   it?
 * Thanks,
    Katrin

 * Hey [@katrintroeva](https://wordpress.org/support/users/katrintroeva/),
 * The entire /wflogs directory. Note, not the wp-content directory.
 * Please let me know how it goes.

 * Hey [@wfgerald](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wfgerald/),
 * Thanks a lot, the message finally disappeared, and if I try to update the rules
   manually, it gives me that all the rules have been updated successfully.
 * However, if you don’t mind, I would prefer to wait for the next automatic rules
   update to be completed before I mark this thread as resolved.
 * Thanks,
 * Katrin

 * Hey,
 * Thanks for your help! Everything, including the automatic rules updates, is working
   now.
 * I’m marking this thread as resolved.
 * Best,

 * Hi again, [@wfgerald](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wfgerald/)
 * I started receiving the same message for the rules update as before:
 * “The last rules update for the Wordfence Web Application Firewall was unsuccessful.
   The last successful update check was September 10, 2019 7:50 pm, so this site
   may be missing new rules added since then. You may wait for the next automatic
   attempt at September 14, 2019 7:28 pm or try to Manually Update by clicking the“
   Manually Refresh Rules” button below the Rules list.”
 * When I try to manually refresh the rules, I receive the following message:
 * “Rules Update Failed. No rules were updated. Your website has reached the maximum
   number of rule update requests. Please try again later.”
 * Would you tell me why it is happening again and how to fix it?
