 * Started out using wordpress.com to develop several blogs and then installed wordpress
   on my own system to continue development and experiment with various themes.
 * Used the Twenty Ten theme on wordpress.com because it has over 40 widgets – quite
   a few would satisfy the requirements for the web sites. I exported a Twenty Ten
   web site/blog on wordpress.com and then imported the xml file on the wordpress
   installation on my system (localhost). Then I installed the Twenty Ten theme
   on the localhost, only to find around 20 widgets.
 * My intention was to develop sites on my localhost and then export them on self-
   hosted servers.
 * Why doesn’t the localhost version of Twenty Ten have the same widgets as the
   Twenty Ten version on wordpress.com?

 * themes rarely have their own widgets –
 * widgets are part of the general installation, and because WordPress.**com **does
   not allow plugins, it is equipped with more widgets than WordPress.**org **where
   you can use plugins to get individual widgets.

 * alchymyth,
 * So you’re saying I have to go into the WP.org Plugin directory and search for
   the widgets/functionality that I used for the Twenty Ten theme on WP.com and
   download the appropriate items, right?
 * Thanks for your response.
