# Save Users Time Zone

 * We want to have a hidden field that will save the users time zone (don’t need
   time – just time zone).
 * Is there a way to do this?

 * Contact Form 7 provides [special mail tags](https://contactform7.com/special-mail-tags/#for-submissions)
   to get data related to the submission. For example, it provides the special mail
   tag `[_time]` to catch the time of the submission, based on server time zone,
   but there is not a time zone special mail tag itself, that in any case, it would
   determine the time zone of the server and not of the user as such.
 * I think the easiest (and my recommended) way to collect this information is to
   add the time zones to a drop-down field and simply let the user select it. Take
   into consideration that many times the users use proxies or VPNs to connect to
   the Internet and the use of APIs to detect which country the user is connecting
   from often returns erroneous information.
