# Saving post changes post status

 * I am using the plugin to help simplify the matching process of a mentorship program.
 * On my site, saving a custom post type (from Teampress) seems to update the post
   status to either:
    – One of my custom types (“unmatchable”) – “Published”, the
   core WordPress status

 * Is there anything that I can do to avoid this?

 * I just checked the HTML of the site using “inspect element” and the issue seems
   to be that all custom post-statuses are shown as “selected:
    [https://prnt.sc/rf57hx](https://prnt.sc/rf57hx)
 * This happens with custom post types as well as the built-in “pages”.

 * I just checked your setup (with the free version of TeamPress) and had the following
   scenario:
 * – Switching from core status “Published” to custom “StatusA” to custom “StatusB”
   by using “Save Draft” is working.
    – Whenever you click the “Publish” the system
   automatically uses the core status “Published” and updates the post! See: [gifyu.com/image/IV87](https://gifyu.com/image/IV87)
 * This is the normal WP behaviour which also works with core statuses such as “
   Draft”. Whenever you click “Publish” WP sets the core status “Published”, even
   if your custom status also includes the public option.
 * The problem that every custom status is marked as selected could be reproduced,
   I’ll have a further look into this.

 * the problem with multiple selected statuses should be fixed with v 1.0.10, can
   you check out if this works for you?
