• I have a few different WordPress sites running on the same server. The Scan fails on many of the sites, the only commonality I can see between them is they are all running PHP 7.4.33.

When I click “Start New Scan”, it fails immediately and the log shows “Scan stop request received”.

All are running WordPress 6.7.1, all have Wordfence 8.0.1 installed. All are using Nginx as a reverse proxy for Apache.

Two sites are pretty big, they also use Cloudflare.

The “Connecting back to this site” item on the diagnostics page for all of these sites has the “wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed!” error. Then the yellow box with the “Scan Stage Failed A scan stage has failed to start. This is often because the site either cannot make outbound requests or is blocked from connecting to itself. Wordfence will make up to 2 attempts to resume each failed scan stage. This scan may recover if one of these attempts is successful.” message is displayed.

I’ve built a brand-new site, that one runs PHP 8.2.7 and scans DO work on it. Unfortunately, I’m not yet able to upgrade the other sites to PHP 8.

How can I go about troubleshooting this issue?

Hi @mb43, thanks for getting in touch.

Does the site running on PHP 8.2.7 have precisely the same theme, plugins and server environment (NGINX/Apache/Cloudflare) as the ones with failing communication on PHP 7.4.33?

If so, could you please send us a diagnostic from the working site and the non-working site to wftest @ wordfence . com please so we can take a look into the differences between the two? Use the link at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

No, the site that works and the sites that don’t work do not have the same themes, plugins or configuration. They’re all different.

I’ve just sent the diagnostics from one working site and one non-working site. Please let me know if any other information is required.

I’m experiencing the same exact thing as @mb43 is experiencing. I’ve tried ipv4 only scans, allow listing all wordfence IPs and all of the suggestions for when a scan fails and nothing has worked.

Any update or ideas about how to troubleshoot this?

Giving this a bump again… any info on this yet?
