I have created 3 different Custom Post Types. One of them will not allow me to schedule posts. Is there a setting I am missing somehow? Not sure why one type isn’t working

No setting at all with regards to CPTUI that is meant to control ability to schedule posts in any way.

Is it not being scheduled in terms of the settings for it? Or is it not getting published when expected? Or something else?

What are your post type slugs, in case there’s internal conflicts for WordPress core.

When I select a future date and click ‘Schedule’ I get a “Scheduling Failed” message. I also noticed that instead of ‘Immediate’ being listed next to ‘Publish’, it is the current date/time. This only happens on the CPT I’m having the problem with. The other two CPTs have ‘Immediate’ next to ‘Publish.

The problem post type slug is: press_release

The two that work fine are featured_stories and case_studies

do you know about your browser’s developer console at all? I’m curious if some errors are showing up in there that could provide some more leads.

I did find a “Scheduling failed” message in some minified javascript, but that doesn’t help much.

Can you visit the CPTUI Tools menu item and paste me the blob of content on the right hand side of the page for the “Post Types” tab? That’ll allow me to import all your CPTUI settings into my own install and try with matching values.

Hmm, at least based on settings alone, I’m not managing to recreate.

Is there any chance at all you are managing to recreate on a dev site, and if yes, can we disable extra plugins until potentially the error goes away?

    Thread Starter dpender

    (@dpender)

On Dev, I enabled Troubleshooting and then only enabled CPTUI so that I could attempt to create a new Press Release and schedule. The same issue happened. All other plugins were disabled. This makes sense since the other two CPTs I use have no issue.

    Plugin Contributor Michael Beckwith

    (@tw2113)

So it’s still happening with all plugins except CPTUI disabled.

Are you still using the same theme as the live site? Perhaps try activating one of the stock year based themes that WordPress ships with. The theme could be providing some errors as well.

I’m also still curious what your browser developer console is going to show, if anything at all.

    Thread Starter dpender

    (@dpender)

Yes, all plugins disabled except CPTUI.

I’ve tried with one of the year-based themes and had the same issue.

Not sure what to look for in the developer console

Worst case scenario with the developer console would be to provide a screenshot of it and I can look it over as best I can. Most specifically anything showing up in reds would be of most interest to me.

    The BenchPresser

@dpender did you ever get this figured out?

    Thread Starter dpender

    (@dpender)

Yes. We had created a taxonomy named ‘Date’ and it conflicted with the default date system in WordPress. We renamed the Date taxonomy and that resolved it.

    Plugin Contributor Michael Beckwith

    (@tw2113)

    The BenchPresser

aha, yes, I could see that conflicting, and possibly something we should “disallow” because of that.

Thanks for the followup and confirmation.
