 * Hello- A friend of mine remarked that he wanted to see a separate scrollbar for
the body portion of the blog and keep the menu portion static on the side. I
imagine the logic is that he wants to see the menu all the time and be able to
scroll the posts freely. I have not seen anything posted pertaining to this,
but perhaps someone out there has done something or even understands what I mean.

If it is something that is looked down upon(design-wise), that’s fine but I would
still like to know why no-one does it. Thanks, Chuck

 * This usually involves the use of frames or I-frames. Many folks don’t want the
extra complexity, and there are some drawbacks to using them. That said, there
are some sites out there using them, without any problems. It has a lot to do
with what your design goals are all about, and whether or not the added complexity
of designing, building, and maintaining a site like this provides enough value
to you as the site owner and to your potential visitors.

 * Fancy folk are now using a frames effect in CSS only.

 * Thanks everybody. I have decided to make it so that if you use IE the neat-o
scroll function is disabled but if you use Firefox, etc. it should work. If you
want to test it out, go here:

NOTE: This is just a test site running on my home PC so it doesn’t have any content,
just layout tweaks. I borrowed the Rubric theme and modified it slightly so if
you recognize it that’s where it came from…
