Is there a search box feature? I can’t seem to find a place to activate one.

The topbar menu has a searchbox – so that menu needs to be added, or you can use the search widget.

Alex, my searchbox when you click it does not open the field to enter what can be?? I upgraded from version 1.27 to the current and stayed that way.

Most likely you have a plugin conflict, so that the theme javascript breaks (scripts.js). Try disabling all plugins and see if it works, if it does, activate them one by one to see which one is causing the trouble.
