 * This is the first time I am using Yoast and it is not working.
 * 1. Google search console is saying for the sitemap:
    Status: Couldn’t fetch Sitemap
   could not be read General HTTP error
 * Note: The HTTP status is 200 – [https://httpstatus.io/](https://httpstatus.io/)
 * 2. When searching the key words for the website, shorturl.at/aorP7, the title
   and description are not working despite showing up fine in the header.
 * Any assistance will be much appreciated.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fsearch-console-http-error%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hi,
 * We checked on [https://teenaangelia.com.au/sitemap_index.xml](https://teenaangelia.com.au/sitemap_index.xml)
   and it seems to be loading fine as expected. Can you confirm you’ve submitted
   the correct sitemap URL as per this article — [https://yoast.com/help/submit-sitemap-search-engines/](https://yoast.com/help/submit-sitemap-search-engines/)
 * Please make sure you submit only the relevant `/sitemap_index.xml`. If you get
   any error messages from Google Search Console, please do let us know which specific
   sitemap is getting an error and what the error is.
 * As for performing a Google search using keywords and not getting the expected
   title and meta description as what you’ve defined in the plugin, there are several
   reasons for this. You can learn more about it here — [https://yoast.com/help/google-shows-different-titles-for-my-site/](https://yoast.com/help/google-shows-different-titles-for-my-site/)

 * Hi,
 * Are you getting this particular error
 * Status: Couldn’t fetch
    Sitemap could not be read General HTTP error
 * for [https://teenaangelia.com.au/sitemap_index.xml](https://teenaangelia.com.au/sitemap_index.xml)?
   Or is it for another sitemap underneath the index?
 * We do see that there isn’t any last modified date or relevant products for your
   product sitemap — [https://teenaangelia.com.au/product-sitemap.xml](https://teenaangelia.com.au/product-sitemap.xml)
 * So you may want to review if you want this enabled without any products. You
   can refer to this article if you want to customize the sitemap — [https://yoast.com/help/how-to-customize-the-sitemap-index/](https://yoast.com/help/how-to-customize-the-sitemap-index/)
 * Please then do try removing and resubmitting your sitemap to GSC — [https://yoast.com/help/submit-sitemap-search-engines/#google-remove](https://yoast.com/help/submit-sitemap-search-engines/#google-remove)

 * I can confirm that the sitemap URL is 100% correct. [https://teenaangelia.com.au/sitemap_index.xml](https://teenaangelia.com.au/sitemap_index.xml)
 * Status: Couldn’t fetch
    Sitemap could not be read General HTTP error
 * Having an empty product should not prevent readability. Please advise further.
   Thanks

 * [@lindenism](https://wordpress.org/support/users/lindenism/) If resubmitting
   the sitemap does not resolve the warning, it may be due to a bug or issue in
   Google Search Console. We would recommend first checking the sitemap for any
   issues in a validator such as [https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html](https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html),
   and if no issues are found, we would then recommend checking the sitemap in Google
   Search Console using the URL Inspection Tool. We did [check your sitemap here](https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html?op=validate-xml-sitemap&go=1&sitemapurl=https%3A%2F%2Fteenaangelia.com.au%2Fsitemap_index.xml&submit=Validate+Sitemap)
   and no issues were detected.
 * To check whether the sitemap can be fetched using the URL Inspection Tool in
   Google Search Console you would need to perform the following steps:
    - • Click on **‘URL Inspection’** in the left hand menu
       • Enter the URL of
      your sitemap in the entry field • Since the sitemap is intentionally set to`
      noindex`, the page will not be in Google’s index. • Click the **‘Test Live
      URL’** button • After the Live Test is complete, check the **‘Page Fetch’**
      status which is located under **‘Crawl’**
 * We also we have a guide on using the URL Inspection Tool feature here: [https://kb.yoast.com/kb/fetch-as-googlebot/](https://kb.yoast.com/kb/fetch-as-googlebot/)
 * If you continue to experience the** ‘Couldn’t Fetch’** error, you can also reach
   out to Google Search Console support at the following link: [https://support.google.com/webmasters/?hl=en#topic=9002753](https://support.google.com/webmasters/?hl=en#topic=9002753)
 * Also, you can create your own thread about this warning and receive assistance
   on resolving it by creating a post on the Google Search Console support forum
   at: [https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/new?hl=en](https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/new?hl=en)
