• Hi All,

I’m having issues related to searching custom fields…

The custom fields are being generated by the Magic Fields 1 plugin and I have custom search forms on various category pages created in WP Custom Fields Search.

The problem is best described in an older post :

“I am using WP Custom Fields Search plugin which is working well, even when adding duplicate fields to permit more than one category or tag to be searched.

However, I would like to be able for the user to set the multiple category/tag searches to OR rather than the default AND.

If a user puts in two categories to search (say “letter” and “drawings”) it results in zero results because there is nothing in BOTH letter and drawings categories.

Ideally I would like it to display all results in EITHER category, rather than BOTH and in a perfect world I would like for the user to be able to choose this each time.”

Any help would be very much appreciated!

To explain further on what I’m trying to do ………

I’m creating a Teacher’s Directory where every Teacher has their own post/page within State/Region categories, and parent categories of Country.

On those Country category pages I would like search forms where you can select a State/Region (from a dropdown list) and then Courses Available (from checkboxes). The Courses Available are custom fields and I would like the search function to find results that match ANY of the courses selected – not ALL. In other words, if a user selects Course 1 and Course 2, I would like search results displayed to include Teachers who only teach Course 1 and only teach Course 2.

If anyone has any suggestions on how I could go about this better than with the plugins above, it would be most welcome. 🙂
