Currently there is no search functionality built in.
Oh I apologize I thought you meant searching for calendars from a user standpoint on the front-end of the site. Yes you can follow the Google guidelines for using their search engine in the search query box.

I think there is still a misunderstanding. There is not a way for your users to search, that search query box is only for your use to filter out events from the calendar before it is displayed.
