 * Is there a way to secure the blog so all comments and entries require approval
   from the admin?

 * Yes.
    1. Comments. Study your own admin panel. There is a lot of stuff under
   Options > Discussion. 2. Posts (if you meant that by “entries”). Make them “Contributors”
   = they can write but not publish.
 * And for general knowledge read the [Codex](http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page)

 * I’ve been up and down the Discussion Options and have both options under E-mail
   checked off and also under “Before a comment apprears”, checked off “An Administrator
   must approve …”, yet when I go to the site as an average user and enter a comment,
   it appears immediately.

 * Nah… Only the commenter sees it (in better designed themes there is also a warning
   that the comment is in moderation). Nobody else is seeing it.

 * So, what you are saying is, if I go to a different computer I will not see the
   new comment?!

 * Yeah. I just checked to be sure (though I knew it usually behaves like that).
 * More: Not logged in as admin, just as a visitor – do you see my test comment???

 * Actually, while you were entering, I displayed the site on my sons computer and
   my comment was not visible, as your was not either. Thanks for your help.
