 * The [current wordpress wiki page](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WordPress#Security)
   suggests that there is an important plugin for security. (Especially after reading
   the ‘Vulnerabilities’ section)
 * This plugin sounds important right? but it’s only had 400+ downloads, well it
   was only added to the wiki 2 days ago..
 * ..or is this just someone ‘plugging’ his plugin?

 * It’s here in the plugin repository. You can read a little more about it on the
   plugins page if you like.

 * [edit] – oops. You probably already know that. I got ahead of myself, there.
 * 🙂
 * [re-edit] Did you see this conversation?

 * Yeah read all that thanks 🙂
 * I’m just wondering why, out of 13,000 plugins, this is the only one mentioned
   on the Wiki page. Wiki is basically saying my wordpress site is unprotected without
   this plugin… (i’m sure it’s fine)
 * Read ‘Vulnerabilities’ then ‘Security’ and you’ll see what I mean from a WordPress
   novice perspective.
 * (Maybe this belongs on a wiki talk page thing, I’m not the one to start that
   though)

 * Technically any security geared plugin could “can protect individual installations”.
   This is just someone plugging their plug-in. Take it at face value, and not as
   the final word on security for your self-hosted installation.

 * There are several reason.
    A. The name. Most WordPress plugins are installed
   by name search such as “security”, no one is searching for mute screamer. B.
   The technique. I only found it because I was looking for a PHPIDS solution, which
   is very specific, I have been using wordpress for years and also do security
   and had no idea this existed.
