# Security Scanner does not start

 * I’ve tried running security scans on my site using the plugin. Running on WordPress
   5.03, but the scan never gets beyond the “preparing for the scan” and hangs at
   that point.

 * It’s not a critical error per se. What amount of PHP MEMORY is shown? Are there
   any other errors in the console? Do you run the website on a free hosting?

 * It is showing 312M PHP memory, no other errors and not on a free hosting site.

 * Go to the Site Integrity / Settings page. Turn on “Enable diagnostic logging”.
   Run the quick scan. White for a couple of minutes. Go to the Tools / Log admin
   page. Check the log for anything suspicious. What is the last line in the log?.

 * Disable “Scan temporary directory” in the scanner settings and run the quick 
   scan.

 * Besides the fact that having a shared temp folder is not safe, meaning the server
   is not properly configured.
