Separate .coms for multisite?

Just a quick question – I could not find a conclusive answer on it.

I see that wordpress supports mysite.something.com or mysite.com/something but is it possible to use wordpress multisite to enable www.mysite.com and www.something.com under the same system?

Edit: Webservers can support separate websites on them, along with separate cpanels, etc, so this is what inspires this question — can separate .coms be used in multisite.
