 * It is indisputable fact that vast majority of websites in Serbia, and their visitors
   prefer Latin over Cyrillic. We are speaking for over 90% of cases!
 * Why can’t we just have Serbian (Latin) as option in native wordpress setup?
 * The plugins that are used for that (Transliteration etc) are unreliable, slowing
   down everything and making life more difficult.
 * What does it need to happen so that this becomes acknowledged? And why are we
   denying these facts for so long?
 * Thank you.

 * Hi [@markez123](https://wordpress.org/support/users/markez123/),
 * Actually, it seems this is already known since there is a translation team dedicated
   to [Serbian (Latin)](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/?locale=sr_RS_latin)
   in addition to [Cyrillic Serbian](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/?locale=sr_RS).
   However, it appears that no translation has ever been released indeed. This is
   likely because there are not enough volunteers to complete the translation. Fortunately,
   you can help! 😃
 * I suggest that you visit the page dedicated to Serbian (Latin) translation to
   reach out to the people involved and perhaps make this happen.
 * Have a nice day.

 * Hi [@luk4](https://wordpress.org/support/users/luk4/)
 * Thank you for the reply. And thank you very much for the two links you provided
   😊. I am glad to see that someone was working on this but there are plenty things
   I can’t understand:
    1. They are literally exactly the same team members on both sides: Latin and Cyrillic.
    2. I am sure that each one of them prefers Latin alphabet over the Cyrillic one
       🙈.
    3. Since the translation in Cyrillic already exist, there is no need to translate
       it again in Latin because its absolutely the same. Just needs to replace it
       with Latin alphabet instead of cyrillic one, and this can be done with a few
       lines of code, in 3 minutes. It can even be automated somewhere in their workflow.
 * I would like to encourage someone who is very familiar with the matter to enlighten
   us here.
 * Thank you very much. 🙏

 * In addition, there is a Link ” [Join the WordPress translation team for Serbian (Latin)!](https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/sr/latin)”
   and it does not work.
 * I believe that there has been a conscious decision to cease Serbian Latin, but
   I would pay gold to understand WHY ? Since this is literally necessary to over
   90% of website owners in Serbia!
 * While it is true that the official alphabet of the country (Serbia) is indeed
   in Cyrillic, it is also true that only about 5% website owners will opt for the
   Cyrillic option.

 * [@markez123](https://wordpress.org/support/users/markez123/) there is no need
   for CAPS and this tone 😉 Also, we practice async communication, so there is
   no need to hunt me down via email and ping me there to answer your question 😉
 * Let’s start from the beginning:
    1. Cyrillic is the official Serbian alphabet.
    2. From Cyrillic to Latin, transliteration is 1-1 match, but with Latin to Cyrillic,
       there are multiple issues, like injekcija would be ињекција, which is incorrect,
       correct is инјекција.
    3. This is volunteer base work, and we wanted back in 2014 to have both, but that
       required us to translate in both Cyrillic and Latin and because the team was
       thin, we had to make a call, which we would translate only to Cyrillic and include
       transliteration plugin with the installation. I can get you this discussion
       if you want to read more.
    4. And I can’t entirely agree with your 90% and that transliteration is slowing
       down the website. This would be a good start for you: [https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5471](https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5471)
       make sure you read the background story, too.
    5. We submitted the patch for this almost ten years ago 😉
    6. We could use your help, too, with the Serbian translations: [https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/sr/](https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/sr/)
 * Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with
