One day I noticed I started seeing favicon 404 errors again. I’ve tried everything I can think of, including un- and re-installing the plugin. When I use the Checker I get the error “….returned a server error. Make sure the site is up and running.” The site is up and running. Some of them are harmless, although annoying. For example `/favicon.ico` is a classic and sometimes the plugin cannot fix this depending of your hosting environment. * About the checker error: this can happen for several reasons. If I change it back that plugin doesn’t work. Haven’t had time to investigate that further. It was really nice to not have all those 404 errors for awhile. I realize that the real problem may with that plugin and not with Favicon… or something else completely!!!! * Here are some of the favicon 404 errors I’m seeing. This is because Apple defined theses URLs by convention. In other words, any iOS device might try to access [https://981kze.com/apple-touch-icon-120×120-precomposed.png](https://981kze.com/apple-touch-icon-120×120-precomposed.png) and use this image if there is one. * Solutions: - Recommended: Ignore the issue, really. Nearly all web sites live with this. - To get rid of the issue, generate your favicon again. This time, while editing the icon for iOS, go to the Assets tab and check everything (all sizes and precomposed icons). For this solution to work, your site needs to support the WordPress Rewrite API (it apparently does not for the moment). Thanks for the reply. This doesn’t make my website vulnerable to hackers, does it? I’ve noticed a couple bots who’ve picked up on those 404s.
