# Server side GTM implementation

 * I’m trying to implement google tag manager for my website (digestic-health.com)
   and installed the free plugin. When I go to set up the plugin and I see the fields
   to enter the gtm snippets it doesn’t match up to what google’s tag manager offers(
   when using a server side setup). Is there something else to put in those fields
   as currently I don’t see any data layer being created and I’d like to start using
   this plugin to track woo commerce events (and if the free plugin works well we
   plan on upgrading to pro).
    I’m happy to include more info/screenshots if needed
   Thanks

 * Hello [@digestic](https://wordpress.org/support/users/digestic/) ,
 * generally server-side tracking is a more advanced topic and require manual wiring.
   I think there are typically two things that you can achieve with server-side
   GTM container:
 * 1. Serve your GTM web container from your domain to prevent 3rd party domain
   being blocked – for this scenario you would need to modify the web container
   GTM JS snippet changing the public GTM domain to your server container URL
 * 2. Track certain eCommerce events from the backend using GA measurement protocol.
   This is a more complex scenario and it is not supported out of the box by our
   plugin, but we are open to do some custom work around this.
 * Last but not least, you need to have your own GTM container server set up and
   live in order to have anything of the above working. If the field you are referring
   above is called “container config” this is a value that you need to set in your
   server container config and not in the plugin settings. We can also help with
   the server hosting if needed.
 * We are happy to take if from here, but as this may require some individual work
   and it is currently not supported out of the box we suggest moving to our support
   email at [support@handcraftbyte.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/server-side-gtm-implementation/support@handcraftbyte.com?output_format=md)
 * All the best,
    Handcraft Byte
