 * I’ve included an overwrite of single-event.php within my child theme. Within
   this file I retrieve a Tribe custom variable associated with each event:
    $holder
   = $custom_fields[‘Places left’]
 * I need to code a decrease of $holder – can I do this and will create any problems-
 * $custom_fields[‘Places left’]= $custom_fields[‘Places left’]-1;
 * Thanks for any advice on this.

 * Hello,
 * Thanks for reaching out!
 * I am not exactly sure what you are trying to do here, but we are limited in the
   amount of support we can provide for customizations, especially here in the .
   org forums.
 * I would recommend taking a look at our [themer’s guide](https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/),
   which has some great info on customizing our plugins, as well as [this post](https://theeventscalendar.com/functions/)
   with more information on some of our functions. You can also browse our [premium forums](https://theeventscalendar.com/support-forums/)
   to see if another user has posted about a similar topic.
 * I hope that helps!
