# Settings / E-Mail

 * Hello! After I adjust the text of the notification mails (settings/E-Mail), they
   are always reset to the English default text at some point. How can I fix my 
   customized text permenantly?

 * You can override the email template from your theme and make customization. Please
   follow [this article](https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1516-templates-map)
   to know more about template overriding for ultimate member.

 * Hello Aswin, thanks – but there is the possibility via the settings / e-mail.
   How can I insert my own texts there so that they are not reset?

 * Does it reset when you update the UM plugin? Or Is it when you add a custom text
   and then save the email settings?

 * I think it has to do with updates of the plugin.

 * Could you please confirm that you’re updating the Email content in the WP Admin
   > UM > Email settings? And not in the /wp-content/plugins/ultimate-member/templates/
   email/ ? If you update the email content in the template files, they will be 
   overriden every time you update the UM plugin.

 * Yes, I updating the E-Mail content in the WP Backend in the UM plugin E-Mail 
   settings.

 * I’m not sure if the problem is the update or something else. Last time I customized
   the mail texts, I’ve checked after save and go back in the editor of the mails
   and the customization was still there (so they was definitely saved). A few days
   later the customization was reset to the default texts – so I guess an update
   triggered the reset (was there an update in the last 14 days?).

 * Create a child-theme.
 * Without a child-theme an update of your theme may remove your modified email 
   templates.
