 * Hi there, I’m trying to nail down the proper settings to get the best page speed
   test score. I’ve tested and enabled most of the settings on our site and the
   site is much faster/scores better. However when someone hasn’t been to the site
   before the page [loads like this](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DhKuzkziWLfcMONX77TuZlCCuWnuhpd0/view?usp=sharing)
   for a brief few seconds then paints correctly.
 * What setting is making this happen? Can you help me pinpoint this? I’m using
   Wp-Rocket as well for caching FYI, but using Autoptimize for javascript/CSS/HTMl
   optimization.
 * Thanks for your help!
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fsettings-for-autoptimize%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * That’s because you have “inline & defer CSS” on but did not specify your “above
   the fold CSS” fremdawg. Have a look at the [AO FAQ](https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/#faq)
   for info on hows/ where to generate that (or have a look at the info on the “
   critical CSS”-tab).
 * hope this helps,
    frank

 * Alright, I did that, but I can’t seem to improve my score any more, any suggestions
   that Autoptimize can do to help? [https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.redfin.com%2Fblog%2Fhottest-neighborhoods-2020%2F](https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.redfin.com%2Fblog%2Fhottest-neighborhoods-2020%2F)
 * Also, I’ve enabled “Let Autoptimize also extract JS from the HTML”, is there
   a way to set the cache size? I came in this morning and it said it was at 100%
   with over a gig used. I have a lot of storage space on my server, so I don’t
   mind having a large cache.

 * re. score: your server response time (TTFB) is not great, are you using a page
   caching plugin?
 * re. cache; see [this info on why this is a problem](https://blog.futtta.be/2016/09/15/autoptimize-cache-size-the-canary-in-the-coal-mine/)
   even if you have a lot of storage space.
