# Setup database…how?

 * OK, I’m ready to take the plunge! I’ve downloaded WP and looked at the install
   docs. Says I need to have a valid database ready to do. I’m such a newbie. I 
   have no idea what to do to setup a database. I know my webhost meets the requirements(’
   cause it lists WP as recommended blog software to run on their servers). If someone
   would be kind enough to post some simple step-by-step instructions on how to 
   setup my database, I would be extremely grateful. Alternatively, if you could
   point me to a site where this info is available, that would also suffice. I’m
   trying to learn all this stuff but it seems I’m starting a the VERY beginning
   from a knowledge standpoint.

 * Hi Raechel,
    Your host should have step by step instructions on how to set up
   a SQL database. Go to your control panel and look for an icon labled SQL or My
   SQl. Click on it and follow the instructions.
 * Once you have created the database you can install WP.
    Wp will ask you for some
   info: You are probably running on “Local Host” Your server: yourdomain_com Your
   username: yourdomain (unless you have changed it) Your password: the password
   that you sign into your control panel with. I hope this helps you. Steve

 * Thanks so much for the info. I took your advice and checked in with my cpanel
   on my website. (never even thought of it, shows how little I work in it!). But
   to my delight, I found that my webhost is setup to auto install WordPress! I 
   followed a couple of links and with just two clicks a bit of information entered,
   I’m up and running!!! How cool!
 * OK, now how do I up the coolness factor by adding themes?
